Three people have deeply influenced ABG:  Rabindranath Tagore, Swami Vivekananda, and Subhash Chandra Bose. Moved by Vivekananda's call to his people to Arise and Awake, today, ABG spends much of his time writing fiery articles for English and Hindi language magazines and newspapers urging people to take ownership for change in their society, not wait for governments to instigate change. He has published three books of Bangla verse: Sriti Tey Roichey Porey  [Cast in Memory - Poems Across Time] (January 2002) at the India International Centre, Bela Obelar Katha (October 2005), and Chander Abhisar (January 2007). He has also published a play in Hindi and Bangla on the life of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose (2003). ABG has also written plays for the annual Durga Puja festival - has directed and acted in them too.

ABG is also concerned about the crumbling of the focal position of Bengali literature in mainstream Bengali culture outside West Bengal. In an attempt to rekindle interest, he actively encourages young Bengalis of his locality to write and share their writing in quarterly literary meetings (Sahityer Anneshoney - In Search of Literary Talent) that he holds in his own home. Youngsters are encouraged to write and recite their own work and are awarded prizes through the Vivekananda Rural Service Centre.
